With some advice from Harrie and Richard I think I have the water leak sorted.

A previous owner had an issue and decided to cover the air inlet with mastic and a plastic sheet.





I removed the plastic sheet and all the mastic.
I did notice that the cover at the bottom of the windscreen was missing a seal at the top and one underneath,  pic to show the difference.


Fingers crossed that's another job done.
