Rooky

well I picked up a second Blue NX.
This was apparently worked on a few years ago and had all the rust sorted. In fairness from the quick look it does look fairly good. Drives fine apart from the brakes not working.
Interior is pretty good, but does need a good clean.
The previous owner and his mechanic tried to sort the brakes out but failed at it.
It feels like the system is full of air to me and you need to pump the brake pedal a few times to get any kind of brake effort.
A few pics of the car.
I found a bit of rust at the passenger door (left side).

Rooky

I presume they named the car "Breda"????

richardwbb

Breda is also a Dutch city. Ideal to have two Nx's in same colour!  :xD2:

Rooky

Maybe thats the reason.
A few bits to sort but this one will be road worthy a lot quicker.

richardwbb

Maybe that is the reason but  ??? I used urban dictionary and it even has it  https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=breda

But it still looks odd to me, why put that on window glass.

Urban dictionary has it's value but keep in mind anyone can type anything about any word there.

And its engraved onto every piece of glass.

And then there is the writing on the rear bumper.  Its like put on with a paint pen. Very stubborn.

HarriePekel

You're right about the brakes, first thought air in the system.

Bled the whole system yesterday. No more air bubbles.
Clean clear fluid from all calipers/drums.

The brakes improved a bit but still need to be pumped a little to get it braking.

I think ill service the calipers  and rebuild the master cylinder and go again.

Rooky

Pretty filthy looking master cylinder. Have cleaned up the spare one I had, bench bled it and fitted it. The brakes feel marginally better but I want to service the calipers next.

Rooky

Fitted an aftermarket air filter. Originally bought it for my old MX5, but sold that before I fitted it.

Sounds slightly louder.

Bought a catch tank a couple of years ago so decided to put it into the NX. Had to modify the bracket to fit it. Fitted a small air filter on top of it as well.

richardwbb

What kind of catch tank you have there? On the charcoal cannister?

Rooky

Its just an empty tank. The charcoal tank is still there to the right of the catch tank.

themacpie

air filter tubing is not realy the best for airflow.
fixed smooth aloy tubing will give you much better flow.  ;)

Thankyou for the advice. I am trying to source tubing at reasonable cost in Ireland, but I may have to order from abroad to get whats needed.

richardwbb

Exhaust tube is what I used.
